Thailand is a fantastic year-round travel destination that's just a short 4-hour flight away. From Bangkok's lively streets to Chiang Mai's temples and Phuket's islands, the country's welcoming culture and direct flights from India have made it a popular destination. With so much to explore, having Thailand travel insurance for your adventures adds a layer of ease and assurance to your plans.
It ensures you're covered for any trip emergencies that come your way. These can be common situations, such as losing your passport while visiting busy places like the Chatuchak Weekend Market or the Pratunam Market in Bangkok. If that happens, we'll guide you through the next steps to get a new passport.
Another frequent issue is delayed checked-in baggage. Let's say you arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport, but your luggage is delayed. In this case, you can file a claim and receive a payout to buy essentials like clothes and toiletries, so your trip stays comfortable, even if things don't go as planned.
And that's just the start. With IndusInd travel insurance (formerly Reliance travel insurance), you're covered from the moment you board your flight to the time you return home. Claims are easy to file on the go via the IndusInd Insurance app, so whether it's a lost passport or a baggage delay, help is always just a tap away.
Exploring Thailand should be all about unforgettable moments, not unexpected expenses. IndusInd Thailand Travel Insurance (formerly Reliance Thailand Travel Insurance) provides affordable and dependable coverage designed to protect your journey every step of the way.

English isn't commonly spoken in Thailand, so you'll be using translation apps a lot. Apps like Google Translate, Thai2English, Bulk Look Up, Language Translator By Mate (for iOS users only), are highly recommended.
Hotel booking apps like MakeMyTrip, Ixigo and Booking.com are popular options among travellers who frequently visit Thailand. You can also go for Airbnb if you want a more immersive trip experience.
When it comes to navigation apps in Thailand, Google Maps works great for commutes within cities like Bangkok since it has the fastest updates. If you're driving long distances, Waze is better as it also has alerts for speed cameras.
If you're taking local transport in Bangkok, go for Momego or Transit Bangkok; if you're travelling between cities, there's 12Go. You can also use ride-sharing apps like Grab, Bolt and inDrive, since they're cheaper than private taxis.
Many temples, parks, and museums offer free or discounted entry on select days. You can check Google Maps listings, websites like Klook, the Thailand tourism website or local travel blogs to find updated information.
Apps like Grab, Lineman, Food Panda, Robinhood (iOS & Android) are the go-tos in case it's too hot to go outside and you want to order in. Tuk (Chiang Mai) and Aroi Dee (Phuket) are also great options if you're staying outside Bangkok.
Thailand continues to be a favourite among Indian travellers, thanks to its rich culture, affordable experiences and now, convenient e-visa access and even Visa on Arrival for up to 15 days.
But even quick trips to Thailand can cause a lot of stress if issues like lost luggage and flight delays occur in an unfamiliar place. That's why it's important to insure your trip, no matter where you're travelling to. In fact, with 37% of flights experiencing delays globally in 2024, more Indian travellers are now prioritising protection. Travelbizmonitor also noted an 18.95% surge in travel insurance sales in Q1 2025, to support this trend.
And that's where IndusInd Thailand Travel Insurance (formerly Reliance Travel Insurance) steps in as your trusted companion. With our digital approach, you can download your travel insurance policy and save it onto your phone using the IndusInd Insurance app, so you can always contact us for any assistance.

Travel insurance isn't mandatory for Thailand, but immigration officials highly recommend getting one. This is because the currency conversion rate between the Rupee and Thai Baht (฿1 → ₹2.65; approx) can result in you having to spend more in case of a trip emergency, like a flight cancellation, where you'd need a refund on tickets.
Note: The given currency conversion rate was taken on 16/07/2025, at 4:00 pm IST and is subject to change. Please ensure you check the current Rupee to Thai Baht conversion rates here before proceeding.
From May 2026, Indians can enter Thailand via Visa on Arrival for up to 15 days. Additionally, all foreign nationals must have a digital arrival card 3 days before arrival.
You can apply for your digital arrival card on the official Thailand TDAC portal. You'll need your passport details and your trip details, like your accommodation information. You may also need to add your health status if you're travelling to Thailand from select countries or if your flight is listed by the Ministry of Public Health. You can check the list of countries that require this information on the Thai MOFA website. So, you will only need to present your health status if you're transiting from one of the countries on that list.
Our Thailand travel insurance plans start from ₹306*. Your total policy price is determined by taking into account factors like how much coverage you need, the duration of your trip and how many people you're travelling with.
